The heart of Kensington isn’t massive but it’s got quite a beat. Spend a breezy afternoon of music and drinks at White Rabbit Record Bar or brunch at The Premises. Get sporty at JJ Holland Park or hit the rec centre for a swim. Not so sporty? Revolt arts space stages edgy theatre, while Kensington Neighbourhood House hosts creative classes.

There are a couple of schools in the area, and public transport is well sorted with three train stations, buses and the nearby tram along Racecourse Road. Shopping is on a smaller scale here, but Newmarket Plaza is an easy walk if you need a major supermarket.

Kensington has an interesting mix of housing, although period homes do reign supreme. Along Bellair Street and its hilly off-shoots you’ll see some immaculate, primarily Victorian, homes and cosy terraces on the other side of the station.

Along Macaulay Road and its side streets, you’ll see impressive warehouses and factories converted into apartments while on Kensington Road, there’s Kensington Banks, a revamped estate of townhouses.

If you want to live in the inner-city without feeling jostled, think about Kensington. It sways from quaint period housing to industrial chic, from historic train stations to Third Wave coffee houses, from crunchy theatre to picnic parklands. With excellent transport, some schools, great community facilities and easy access to the city, it’s a pretty sweet choice.

    What a great Agent!!

    Kylie and Trevor came to our house as a team, we felt we were dealing with committed, honest knowledgeable people. From the fist appointment we decided they were the ones we would choose at the time of sale. So we did, we put the process of the sale of our property in their hands when the time came.

    Kylie straight away took over with her beautiful bubbly personality, not time to waste.

    I signed the contract to sell my house with Kylie Harrigan and Trevor Reynolds at the end of February after a very stressful time seeking a suitable agent. I loved their professional, friendly and understanding approach. They were realistic in their assessment of the property, who the market would be and what I needed to do to prepare it for sale. I had more help and support from Kylie as I prepared the property for sale than I expected and for this I was very grateful. I spent 15 percent of what previous agents had said I would need to spend to prepare the house and the outcome was amazing. The sales campaign went as planned and culminated in a successful auction.
